This is a Tour we highly recommend you join. We did the PTM Tour in April and enjoyed it so much that we are attending this one as well. It was magnificent, and to do it with a professional team such as Andy Biram has, makes it even more enjoyable.
If you don’t have a bike, rent one from us. Call us on 011 251 4032. Hope to meet you on the tour!
ABOUT THE TOUR
The Adventure Academy’s Planes, Trains and Motorcycles tour of the Western Cape in September promises to be a sensory treat for any adventure biker who enjoys exploring the road less travelled and immersing oneself in true South African authenticity, all while traversing over 26 mountain passes in 6 days of riding!
Staring with a unique and very entertaining overnight train trip from Park Station to Beaufort West on the 9th of September, we’ll travel on the spectacular Karoo gravel highways all the way into the Tankwa Karoo for our first night and then continue across to the west coast for a ridiculously good beach fish braai at Muisbosskerm ending day two. On the third day of riding we’ll drop south through the quaint Cederberg valley ‘dorps of Clanwilliam and Wuppertal before our arrival in Tulbagh and a well-deserved rest day from the bikes.
Exploring the awesome Bain’s kloof, Du Toitskloof and Hellshoogte pass is optional for the adrenaline junkies before we all chill out at our private wine estate accommodation, Montpellier, for a lazy boozy lunch that’ll probably stretch late into the afternoon and eventually become dinner?
Day six holds a spectacular ride over the Matroosberge before lunch at Ronnie’s Sex Shop and a very memorable descent through Tradouws Pass on our way to the Malgas Pont which is the last remaining “man drawn ferry” in South Africa and across the Breede river to our accommodation for the night.
The following day we’ll have the opportunity to straddle the Indian and Atlantic oceans at the Southern-most point on our vast continent, dive with Sharks in Gans Baai if that tickles your fancy and watch the whales in Hermanus with Gin and Tonics on the deck to round off another spectacular day in Africa.
Our last day of riding will see us rounding Cape Point, or as close as we can get without drowning our bikes via what is renowned as the most beautiful road in the country and rolling into the Mother City along Chapman’s peak, before enjoying a celebratory drink in Camps bay and our finale dinner to commend you all on a trip well-travelled.
